Set the automatic pickup filter in Under Canopies

Steam PC (Windows) · Pickup Filter and 0.6.25 collection limits · Checked 2026-11-02

The short answer

Open the inventory and use Pickup Filter to choose the resources the game collects automatically. More resource options appear as you discover them.

In 0.6.25, automatic pickup covers eligible natural resources and chopping or mining drops. Bags, animal gifts, blueprints and other placed loot require manual collection.

Before you start

  • An EA version with the Pickup Filter added in 0.6.23.
  • The resource you want to configure has been discovered, so its option can appear.

Set automatic collection choices

  1. Open your inventory using your configured control.
  2. Open Pickup Filter.
  3. Choose the discovered resources you want to allow for automatic collection.

Dropped items are a separate rule

The 0.6.23 update also stops deliberately dropped items from being immediately collected again. Update 0.6.24 says that this exclusion survives saving and loading. A dropped item remaining on the ground does not by itself show that your filter is broken.

Bags, gifts and blueprints are manual loot in 0.6.25

The filter now matches the resources eligible for automatic pickup. A bag, animal gift, blueprint or placed loot staying on the ground does not mean its filter switch is broken: collect that loot manually.

If an earned animal gift did not fit your inventory, the new full-inventory behavior places it in a collectible bag in front of you.

If it does not work

A resource is missing from the choices.
The update says options appear as resources are discovered. Confirm that you have discovered that resource before looking for its filter option.
An item you deliberately dropped is not automatically picked up again.
That is a separate exclusion documented in 0.6.23 and preserved across save/load in 0.6.24. Do not treat the filter as an override for it.
A bag, blueprint or animal gift is not picked up automatically
Use manual collection. The 0.6.25 filter only covers eligible resources; these loot types are outside it.

How to know you are done

  • Your automatic collection choices are set for the discovered resources shown in Pickup Filter.
  • Check the result when automatic collection next encounters a resource you excluded: that resource should remain uncollected automatically. This check concerns automatic pickup, not a manual collect action.
