Under Canopies: water planted corn and check its status

Before you start

• Have corn already planted in a growing bed and a usable watering can with water.
• This guide answers the watering/status step. Growing-bed acquisition, planting controls and watering-can construction are different prerequisites.

Rain helps exposed crops; roofs block that help

Official 0.6.25 makes rain water growing crops exposed to the sky. If the crop is sheltered under a roof, the update says it still needs your care.

Use that current rule alongside the older player watering procedure below. The patch does not publish an exact rain duration, plant growth time or revival method for already wilted crops.

Equip the watering can and read the response

Approach the planted corn with the watering can held and use E, as lucyrocketdog reports in reply #6. If the plant responds that it is already watered, repeating the action immediately is not evidence that it needs another dose.

When the plant needs water, the same player reports that it accepts more from the can. That player says checking and watering in this way let them grow corn successfully. This is their EA experience, not a claim that we reproduced it in a local game.

Recheck the plaque before a long trip

Bosco’s reply #7 describes a second watering partway through growth and says the plaque in front of each plant shows its needs. Recheck that plaque while the crop grows, particularly before leaving the area for an extended trip.

The original poster reports corn wilting after sleep or an extended absence, despite believing it had enough time left. The thread does not establish whether every wilted plant is caused by missed water or by a bug. A displayed growth time is not a guarantee that a plant will stay watered until harvest.

If the corn is already wilted

The sources do not show a way to revive wilted corn or recover its seeds. Do not spend more water on the promise of a recovery this thread never demonstrates.

For replacement corn, the separate farmhouse report has a confirmed original-poster follow-up. Keep some new corn for the next planting attempt instead of committing every cob to another use.

If it does not work

The response says already watered

Stop repeating the action for now and recheck the plant’s status later during growth.

The corn wilts after you leave for a long time

Check the later watering stage on the next planting. The report does not prove that every wilt event has the same cause.

The corn is already wilted

No revival or seed-refund procedure is verified in this thread. Use a replacement-corn source rather than assume more water restores it.

It rained but the crop still needs care

Check whether the crop is under a roof. Only crops exposed to the sky receive the automatic rain watering described in 0.6.25.

How to know you are done

• The plant reports that it is already watered, or accepts the needed water; its plaque is the next check during growth. Successful watering does not itself mean the corn is ready to harvest.
